I don’t know very many people who have not been touched by breast cancer  – it seems like everyone knows (or has been diagnosed themselves) with this nasty disease. It’s why I joined with my in-laws and some of their friends a couple of years ago and did the Susan G. Komen 3-Day – a walk where people show solidarity against breast cancer, raise funds for research, and walk 60 miles in three days to raise awareness. I have to say, those three days were tough on my body, but the memories will last a life time. I am dedicating my blog posts this week to my friend Sigrid. She is a dear friend of mine who I met when we were teammates on this particular 3-day.  She signed up to do this walk again (I think it’s her fifth or sixth time!). To help her out with raising $2,500 so that she can participate for this important fund drive – I will be giving away the Better Homes and Garden New Cook Book: Celebrating the Promise, 14th Limited Edition “Pink Plaid”, pink oven mitt and pot holder, and some pink measuring cups.

The BHG cookbook is an excellent basic cookbook. It’s one of the places I go to get a basic recipes such as pie dough, quiche, roasted vegetables, and bread, which will all eventually be tinkered with to make them more my own. The book has great photos, tips, and of course yumminess. I will be featuring recipes and quick tips from the cookbook all week so you get an idea of the multitude of recipes they have and in some cases, how I play with the basics and make them my own. I thought the oven mitts and measuring cups are cute and would make a great addition to this giveaway. I will announce the winner on Monday, May 7th via Twitter and Facebook.

The only requirement to enter is to donate to Sigrid so that she can be that much closer to reaching her goal. You can find the “donate” button right above the fundraising indicator. It doesn’t matter how much you donate – every dollar helps!

Your entry into the giveaway will be noted if you put the letters “KK” at the end of your name that will appear on her fundraising website (don’t worry – you don’t have to share how much you donated if you’re not comfortable with that).
